We believe Art saves. Our goal at the Star Theatre is to use the power of live theatre to help actors, students, and audiences feel closer to their true selves. When we feel more like our true selves, we make the world a better place.
OUR MISSION
To manage the operations of a performing and visual arts theatre in the city of Oceanside CA on a not-for-profit basis and to promote the performing and visual arts to our community through education and appreciation.
OUR VISION
At the Star Theatre, we believe that art saves by giving everyone a place to belong and moments that inspire, connect, and lift us up. Live theatre is one of the most powerful ways we have to connect with our truest selves. It helps us see the world through new perspectives, find joy in shared experiences, and create memories that stay with us long after the curtain falls. When we feel more connected to who we truly are, we approach each other differently and we become more collaborative, empathetic and welcoming. In a world that is often quick to find fault, we encourage everyone to connect.
Star Theatre isn’t just North San Diego County’s premier community theatre. We are a place where our students and actors can feel comfortable being exactly who they are while growing and learning as people. In fact, our staff, performers and patrons tell us as soon as they walk through the doors of the Star’s historic theatre building, they just feel differently. Many of them call the Star Theatre their “second home”.

SAFE & NURTURING: We strive to provide an emotionally safe space for people to stretch their wings in a nurturing environment where they feel comfortable outside their comfort zones. Our desire is that through interaction with us we have a positive impact on their day and therefore their lives.
RESPECT & CELEBRATE: We respect all races, ethnicities, cultures, physical/cognitive abilities, ages, genders and identities by celebrating differences and striving to be accessible to all by removing barriers to participation. We seek to meet all people where they are in their journey and to help them grow.
EMPATHY: We use theatre, storytelling and artful expression to organically grow and foster empathy. We encourage our audiences and artists to share and understand the total human experience.
SERVICE: As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we believe we are responsible to our community and focus on providing our Mission, Vision, and Values as a service to our community for its benefit and growth.
